Statement and Challenge |
The
St. Bernadette Institute of Sacred Art was established in 1993
in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to encourage artists to carry on
the centuries-old tradition of creating sacred imageries. In
today's world, encompassed in secularism, the Institute aspires
to promote, encourage and support religious art and artists,
all for the glory of God.
St.
Bernadette Institute is important to today's Church because
of the vocations it will foster. The Institute's obligation,
then, is to offer these artists spontaneous contemplation,
to allow their spirits to soar high above the level of every
day worries, temptations, and aggravations - pointing them
in the direction of the true values of their important calling.
The
Institute has achieved national and international fame for
its work in encouraging young liturgical artists. Its collection
is immense, but was confined to a physical collection, and
a library of 35mm slides. The challenge for epagentry was to
compile the Institute's incredible work in a consistent format
that was easy to navigate, and inexpensive to distribute to
current and future Institute members and supporters.
